How to know what your dog Is
thinking
"If only my dog could
talk, he could tell me what he is thinking!"
Your dog can tell you what he
is thinking, but it is up to you to learn how to understand what he is saying
to you. Dogs communicate what they are thinking, in many different ways.
Dog talk works like this.
"I am your best
friend!"
Your dog will snuggle up to you
and stay at your side whether you are happy or sad, morning, noon or night.
"I am your
protector!"
Your dog will bark immediately
at someone or something he perceives, as a threat to you.
"I love you!"
Your dog will lick your hand,
chin and your cheeks. He will jump up on you and wait for you to hug, pet or
reward him.
"I can do tricks!"
Your dog will bring his ball to
you, drop it at your feet and wait for you to throw it for him, repeatedly.
"I can bite!"
Your dog will growl and bark at
anyone he feels threatened by, causing them to back away or to leave.
"I want to go
outside!"
Your dog will go to the door
and scratch on it, to show you that he wants to go outside or to come back
inside.
"I am hungry!"
Your dog may go to his dish and
push it around with his nose, when he is hungry or thirsty.
"I want to play!"
Your dog will jump up and down
with delight and bring his toys or a stick to you, when he wants to play with
you.
"I want to go for a
walk."
Your dog may place his leash in
your hand, when he wants to go for a walk.
"I am trying to tell you
something!"
Your dog will demand your
attention, when there is something that he thinks is important.
"I am sad."
Your dog will let you know that
he is sad, by the look in his eyes. Some dogs even appear to smile, when they
are happy.
"I am sick."
Your dog will let you know that
he is sick, by becoming quiet and lethargic. He may be running a
temperature and feel warm to touch.
Your dog may be a whole lot
smarter than you ever realized. Spend some quality time with him and you will
begin to understand exactly how he thinks. Dogs can speak to you, in their own
way. When your dog is trying to tell you what he is thinking, make certain you
really listen to him.
